Mordecai Kaplan, the founding thinker of Reconstructionism, teaches, “where there is no diversity, there is no freedom.” In this election cycle, we might consider his words a charge to lift up diverse voices through the electoral process.

You may be asking yourself- do we really need to help Colorado when it comes to democratic participation? While Denver and Colorado overall may be a politically active place, this political engagement is not equal. Major racial and income based disparities in voting persist here, and if Kaplan is right, it becomes our responsibility to do something about it.
