Jewish tradition teaches us to value deeds over dogmas. Even so, Jewish spiritual practice all too often neglects the physical body in favor of purely intellectual engagement.
Embodied spiritual practice is about integrating our spiritual paths with our physical bodies; not to merely transcend our bodies but to unite them with spirit. This workshop offers a unique blend of prayer, gentle yoga, moving meditation/dance, and deep exploration of Jewish themes.
We will be gathering at the conclusion of the service to recite blessings over challah and wine (juice). No lunch will be served.
All are welcome, regardless of background, experience and physical ability.
Wear comfy clothes and bring along (if you have them):
- Tallitot and scarves (optional)
- Yoga mats and props if you have them (optional)
- Journal if you have one (optional)
- Meditation cushion if you have (optional)
About Gail Gurewitz:
"Gail always opens my heart... I love the teachings that she offers, anchoring us in Jewish time. Moving my body with Gail's prompts & music helps me to get out of my head, to more fully integrate the teachings she brings. What a blessing!" -Chana J.
"Gail Gurewitz is an extraordinary yoga teacher. A former professional ballet dancer, Gail brings grace, strength, and a deep knowledge of the body to her teaching… I have been taking classes from Gail for twelve years. As a teacher she is warm, encouraging, and approachable. I love Gail’s classes!” -Susan R.
