Kehillah Shabbat
Friday, March 21, 2025 • 21 Adar 5785
6:30 PM - 9:00 PMB'nai East (6445 E. Ohio Ave.)Come join us Friday March 21st, and Friday, May 9th for this spring’s Kehillah Shabbat services at B’nai Havurah! These gatherings are open to everyone, are covid safe(r) and aim to be a radically welcoming space for us to pray, sing, and connect in justice-centered community together.
At Kehillah Shabbat, we celebrate our kehillah kedosha - sacred community - through soulful prayer and a collective commitment to a more just world. We practice a vibrant Judaism that understands that safety for Jewish people is intertwined with full safety and justice for Palestinians, and affirms that all people deserve to live with dignity and freedom from oppression.
The services will be a song-ful blend of traditional tunes and prayers and new interpretations - No background knowledge required! All voices are needed and welcome. Services will be co-led by Sarah Kaplan Gould, B’nai community member and ritual leader, along with Rabbi Katie and Music Director Hal Aqua.
In order to make our gathering safer for our community, all participants will be required to wear a well fitting mask (and will be provided one if you don’t have one). Those leading may unmask for lipreading accessibility, but will be required to take a rapid covid test the day of the service.
After the service, we will have kiddush and motzi, followed by a light potluck dinner - we ask that people eat under their masks, and we will also have outdoor space available (weather permitting.)
