Hiking Group
Who we are
BH Hikers and Walkers is an affinity group whose activities are open to all B'nai Members and friends.
What we do
We plan hikes or walks that will be fun and doable for a variety of abilities and intentions–for instance, we try to meet at a trailhead with both an easier and a harder hike. If there are enough of us, we might divide up, or we might hike at different speeds, but we make sure that no person is hiking alone.
If someone expressly plans a hike or walk to be just easy or difficult, that information is specifically communicated in the description.
Who plans the hikes or walks?
Our group is based on horizontal leadership, meaning hikes are planned and led by members of the group, with support from Risa Aqua, the current lead and contact person. Anyone who wants to plan a hike may do so. There is no fixed schedule, nor a certain day per month when we will meet. Weekdays, weekends; in town or out of town; just plan it and hope that “they will come,” knowing that you might be hiking with a small group.
How to co-plan and publicize a hike
Send Risa the date and time; we need to get it approved by the BH office to avoid scheduling conflicts
When the date is set, send Risa (or work together on) the rest of information for blurb:
Date, time, location along with maps (links to maps) and parking directions
Description and/or difficulty of hike
I’ll send the blurb to office for publication. They’ll create an event with registrations, and will publicise the hike through “What’s Nu,” the website, and announcements at services.
Stay in touch with Risa to find out who has signed up for the hike so that we can stay in touch by phone/text. We can cancel if there is low registration or bad weather.
Be sure to show up at the trailhead a few minutes early.
