What Is Coloradans for the Common Good?
Coloradans for the Common Good (CCG) is a broad based, non-partisan organization focused on working for social justice in Colorado. It comprises 25 member institutions in the Colorado Front Range, including congregations of various faith traditions, labor unions, education associations, non-profit organizations, and civic organizations. In addition to B’nai Havurah, a few examples of member institutions include Trinity Presbyterian Church of Arvada, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7, Colorado Education Association, NAACP, Good Business Colorado, and Great Ed Colorado.
- CCG is dedicated to creating sustainable, relational power across the racial, denominational, economic, and geographic boundaries that divide our larger community and isolate people from one another.
- As a non-partisan organization we do not endorse candidates, but we do work on initiatives that are important to our members.
- We organize community-based institutions to make sure that the market sector (particularly large corporations) and the public sector (government) respond to the needs of our member institutions and their members.
- CCG hosts civic academies to educate members and allies on current issues and how to organize effectively in the public arena. This process strengthens our institutions and gives our people “voice” in the decisions that affect their lives. From this work, we bring about changes we want to see in our communities.
