CLASS #1
WHAT DO RECONSTRUCTIONISTS MEAN WHEN WE USE THE WORD "GOD"?
Most of us don’t believe in a God who intervenes directly in human affairs to perform miracles, to reward and punish us for our (dis)obedience, etc. We will look at several other formulations of “God” that some Reconstructionists do believe in: R. Harold Schulweis’s Predicate Theology; the feminist embrace of the divine feminine; building a personal relationship with a nonpersonal God; the benevolent Power in the cosmos that supports us in moving toward more just, more loving, more creative lives.
In case you are interested in reading in advance, Rabbi Staub suggests the following two essays: Rabbi Harold Schulweis, From God to Godliness Rabbi Jacob Staub, Worship for Agnostics: Building a Personal Relationship With a Nonpersonal God
CLASS #2
